What is the Maximum Towing Capacity of a 2013 Dodge Durango with Curt Class III Trailer Hitch

Question:

Im looking at the Curt Class III Trailer hitch. There seems to be a discrepancy in the listing on the GTW and Tongue weights. In the highlights it indicates GTW of 5000 and Tongue weight of 750. Then below, in the SPECS, it shows 6000 and 600. Can you clarify this for me, just so I know for certain which is? Thanks.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13182 for your 2013 Dodge Durango is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver tube opening. The different weight capacities you are seeing is for use with or without a weight distribution system. Without a weight distribution system you are limited to 6,000 lbs gross trailer weight (GTW) and 600 lbs tongue weight (TW) but with a weight distribution system these capacities increase to 7,500 lbs GTW and 750 lbs TW. With that being said you will want to check the vehicle's GTW and TW ratings as the lower of the two will be your limiting factor.

According to Dodge's Towing Capacity Chart, the towing capacity of your Durango will vary depending on engine size and drive type. If you have a rear wheel drive (RWD) model then you are limited to 6,200 lbs with the 3.6L V6 engine and 7,400 lbs with the 5.7L V8 engine. If you have an all wheel drive (AWD) model then you are limited to 6,200 lbs with the 3.6L V6 engine and 7,200 lbs with the 5.7L V8 engine.

I have attached an install video of this hitch on a similar 2013 Dodge Durango for you as well.
