Running Batteries in Series vs Parallel
Question:
Would like to connect either 4 - 6 volt AGM deep cell or 4 -12 volt deep cell AGM batteries either in series or parallel. Is one setup best over the other? Can you provide diagrams for each? For info, within 6 months, will be installing 1000-1200 watt solar panels on roof of my 5th wheel. Thank you very much.

I have attached a picture that depicts how batteries are run in Series and in Parallel. You will simply need to continue the pattern for 4 batteries. Series will be the negative post of one battery to the positive post of the next battery while with a Parallel setup all of the positive terminals will be connected and all of the negative terminals will be connected.
The advantage of the Series setup is that your power output will become greater the more batteries that you connect. The Parallel setup will keep the power output the same as the batteries but it will increase your capacity for every battery added to it.
I recommend connecting 4 - 12V batteries in Parallel so that you have a normal amount of power for an extended period of time. If you were to connect 4 - 12V batteries in Series you would end up having a 48V setup that could really cause some major damage if not handled properly. You can use the NOCO Genius UltraSafe Battery Charger and Maintainer # 329-G4 to charge them when you have access to AC power.
Another thing to note is that deep cycle batteries are best to use for power storage as they are made specially for storing power to be used at a later time. If you don't already have your batteries purchased I recommend looking into them.
