You will want to start off by checking all of your grounds and making sure that they are all securely connected to a clean surface; sometimes even some paint can cause problems like yours to occur.
The next thing you will want to look at is the connector on both your 2016 Nissan Rogue and your trailer. Make sure that they are clean and free of debris. If this is the case, then you can test the functions on the rear of your Rogue using a Circuit Tester # PTW2993 to make sure all of the functions are working properly. You can test the wiring on your trailer by connecting it to a different 12V power source (different vehicle or just a battery) and testing all of the functions.
If the functions are not working correctly on either your Rogue or your trailer then the next thing that you will want to do is check all of your wiring. Look for any sections that are damaged, corroded, bent, or have exposed wiring. You can replace it using 16 Gauge Wire # 16-1-1 and Butt Connectors # 05731-5.
When you test the functions on your Rogue, if they all do not work then you might need a new harness and connector. I recommend going with the Tekonsha T-One # 118480.
If you have tested everything and looked at everything and it all seems to be in good working order then you will want to take your setup to a qualified mechanic who can physically inspect it.
