Troubleshooting Non-Functioning Right Trailer Turn Signal on 2014 Chevy Silverado 2500HD duramax
Question:
I have a 2014 Chevy 2500HD duramax. All the signal lights work on the truck. My trailer 7 way plug doesnt have power to the right signal post. I ran the wires expecting a junction box for the truck lights and the trailer 7 way plug in the back . There wasnt one and it appears that all the wires run toward the front of the truck. Is there somewhere/something else I should check? The truck is all factory. Thank you for your time any help......

Expert Reply:
Since your truck's 7-way wiring is factory-installed there could simply be a bad fuse causing your right turn signal not to function. Check the power distribution box for any fuse/relay positions labeled trailer or tow and confirm the fuse/relay is not blown and that it is fully seated in the receptacle. Mini-fuse position 17 relates to right-side trailer turn lights.
You can also test the wire leading to the 7-way pin with a tester like # PTW2993 to see if the signal is making it that far. Sometimes corrosion inside a 7-way socket (that can be tough to spot from the outside) can cause issues so you can try unplugging the 7-way socket from the harness that connects to it to check for any trapped moisture or corrosion inside the 7-way.
