How to Use Kats Heaters Handi-Heat Magnetic Heater

Question:

Ive been told by an highly experienced automotive mechanic, who is considered an expert, that if this type of engine block heater is used it would be necessary to cut a hole in the heater hose. Ive never heard this theory before in 65 years. Can this possibly be correct?

The Kat's Heaters Handi-Heat Magnetic Heater # KH1155 is usually installed onto the oil or transmission pan to keep the fluid warm. Nothing will need to be cut for use. It's also intended to heat small engines like that of a snowblower or chainsaw.

For a larger heater, that is designed to be used on a vehicle, the # KH1190 is what you're looking for. This is also usually placed on the oil or transmission pan but can be used on the engine block. There still is nothing that needs to be cut for it to be used.

@Nate Since you have an aluminum pan I'd use one of the heater pads in this link. They install with an adhesive instead of being magnetic.
