Bike Rack for 2003 Coleman Carmel A-Frame Pop-Up Camper
Question:
have a coleman 2003 carmel pop up. bumper is heavy guage steel but is L-shaped and 3-inch not 4. Wondered if I could put a 4x4 block of wood behind it and use Swagman #s64663 platform bike rack.

The Swagman Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack for Bumpers, part # S64663, requires both that the bumper be continuously welded along its entire length for maximum strength (rather than having spot welds at intervals along it) and that it be 4- to 4-1/2-inches tall. In your case with a 3-inch bumper, you could use a wood block to make up for the different dimension of your bumper but only if the bumper is continuously welded along its entire length.
Another option is the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk Trailer-Mounted Bike Rack Carrier # CC-275. This mounts to the front of your Coleman pop-up's a-frame to provide a 2-inch receiver for a trailer-rated bike rack like the Swagman # S64663. It will fit trailer a-frames from 14- to 55-inches wide and it is USA-made. Please see the linked video for more.
