Towing Capacity and Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendations for 2016 Ram 1500 with Eco Diesel
Question:
Hello, I am thinking of purchasing a Fithwheel Springdale 249BH RV. I would tow it with a 2016 Ram 1500 ecodiesel with a 3.55 axle ratio. This would be my 1st rv so Im not 100 sure of how everything works with the towing capacities. Ive read here and there different articles and I would feel a lot better if someone could answer my specific situation. Any help is appreciated. Thank you,

You didn't tell me what your truck bed length, but if you have a 6 foot bed we have the Demco Hijacker setup part # DM8550035 which will give you a fifth wheel hitch that will slide automatically as you make tight turns. According to Ram you would then have a max towing capacity of 9,350 lbs if your truck is a 4x2 and regular cab. For a rail kit for this hitch you would then want the # DM8552030-71.
If you have an 8 foot bed you would want a stationary hitch like the Demco # DM6076P-16K with the same rail kit part # DM8552030-71.
According to Ram you would have a towing capacity of 8,450 lbs.
