Can I Turn or Grind Disc Brake Hub/Rotor to Remove Rust
Question:
I have kodiak 10inch discs on my12 year old boat trailer and I am rebuilding the the brakes .I took the caliper off and noticed the disc surface to quite rusty and pitted , can I get these dics turned ?

Expert Reply:
I spoke with my contact at Kodiak and he said that yes you can turn the disc brake hub/rotor to remove the rust and pits. Etched into the backside of the rotor there will be a minimum width clearance or minimum rotor thickness that you can turn to.
