Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2013 Acura RDX Towing 1750 LB Fishing Boat
Question:
I have a 2013 Acura rdx. Ian liking to purchase a 16.5 to 17.5 foot fishing boat with max weight around 1750 pounds. Wondering if you have a hitch that will accommodate that and any feedback you can provide. Thank you

I have included a link to the hitch options that we offer for your 2013 Acura RDX. The hitch that I recommend for your 2013 Acura RDX is the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, # C13130. This is a custom fit hitch so there is no drilling or welding required for installation and it has a towing capacity of 4,000 lbs and tongue weight capacity of 600 lbs.
Although the hitch has a 4,000 lb capacity, I did some checking and it looks as though your RDX has a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 lbs. Since you will want to follow the weight limitations of the component with the lowest weight rating you will be limited by the towing capacity of your vehicle.
Since it sounds like you are still in the market for a fishing boat, you will want to look for one which won't exceed the 1,500 lb capacity.
To complete the towing set-up you may still need a ball mount, hitch ball, and trailer wiring # 118569. I have included a link on choosing the correct ball mount.
You might be interested in etrailer Ball Mount Kit, # 989900, which comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. If the suggested ball mount kit does not have the correct rise or drop to tow the trailer level, I have also included a link to our ball mounts that are sold separately.
