From the numbers you provided it sounds like you need replacement grease seals. In my research, the grease seals I found with the GS-1719DL number have a 1.72 inside diameter and 2.565 outside diameter.

The replacement double lip grease seals you need are part # RG06-050. There are 2 seals in the package.

When replacing any components for your hub, you will want to make sure you either get the numbers for the parts or take precise measurements with a digital caliper. I have attached a photo that shows where measurements should be taken when measuring and also where the numbers are typically found on bearings, races, and seals.

We have a couple of options you can consider when it comes time to pack the bearings with grease. A good grease we offer is the LubriMatic Marine trailer Wheel Bearing Grease, part # L54FR in 3 oz cartridges, then you could use the mini-grease gun 30-800. You may be interested in a bearing packer like part # L70025. This makes packing trailer bearings an easy task. If you want to hand pack the bearings, you can still use the LubriMatic Marine Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease in the cartridges part # L54FR. You can use this without a grease gun.

I got the wheel off the trailer along with the break drum. The outer bearing came off easily. The inner seal did not want to pop out. Instead I inadvertently dislodged a small coiled spring from underneath the seal? Is there a special tool needed to remove the seal without damaging the inside bearing?

There's not a special tool to remove that grease seal. Other than being really careful, there's no particular trick to get it out. The honest fact is that the seal is typically broken when removing it because of exactly what you described. When it's inspection time, it's usually about due for a replacement anyway. If you can tell me the number on the seal I'd be happy to recommend the right part if you don't have it already.

seal is for a Shorelander boat trailer - designation is TCM174253TB with 1.750"ID and 2.565"OD (approx 9mm wide). Thanks,

@GregM Thank you for the dimensions. While we have some seals that match either the ID or the OD we unfortunately don't have a match that fits the specs you gave. I'd try reaching out to ShoreLand'r to see if they have any replacements for you.

Thank you. After re-watching some YouTube videos, I have concluded that I wasnt aggressive enough. I needed a bigger pry bar. I was resigned to having to replace the seals as little as $2.00 each but didnt want to do any damage removing them. I now realize that I should have gotten a crow bar and a bigger hammer. I have learned a lot, thanks in part to your response. This first time I have resigned myself to having them repacked by professionals $300!, but with the hope that they will let me watch so that I can do it myself next time. Im a woodworker, not a mechanic, but I can learn. How often do you recommend repacking wheel bearings? P.S. My seals are #GS1719DL.

Take a look at the article I linked below. In it you'll find video demonstrations and additional info specifically about repacking hub bearings. I think you'll get just as much out of it as watching a professional next to you (and for free!). We recommend repacking the bearings once a year. You would need # RG06-050 to replace your GS1719DL seals.
